Call to Action: Ward 8 Candidate John-Paul Danko Calls on Council to Fill City Manager Position After Fall Election
– FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
Hamilton, Ontario (Wednesday, July 25, 2018) – 2018 Ward 8 Candidate John-Paul Danko, believes the hiring of Hamilton’s new City Manager should wait until after the election this fall. October 22nd is only a few months away and with the departure of City Manager Chris Murray to Toronto, John-Paul Danko feels that finding Murray’s replacement is a critical decision that should be left to the next term of council to decide – especially with four wards without an incumbent in the race.
“Selecting a new City Manager should be the first job of the newly elected Council in October. The City Manager has a critical role that guides both the priorities of staff and the culture at city hall. The person hired for the job will have direct influence over the policies set by the next term of Council – which may be different from our current incumbents. Working together to select a new City Manager is the perfect opportunity for our newly elected Council to find common interests and start out on the right foot.”
